Weekend Getaway

Well this past weekend we headed back to Jackson, TN. Luckily the weather cooperated more this year than it did last year. We were prepared for the worse this year though and took lots of extra warm clothes just in case.

We went down for another hunt test for our dog, but this time it was Suzie. Who technically is Wyatt's dog. She ended up doing a fantastic job and passed her tests on both Saturday and Sunday.

Gotta give a shoutout to a bloggy friend for fixing this picture for me. She was able to green up the grass and take multiple things out of the background that I didn't want in the picture. She did a fantastic job.

The kids had a blast getting to see all the other dogs and even got to get in on the action a little with a Junior Handler test. We had also taken Jet so the kids ran her in their tests. They were extactic to get trophies for job well done.

They also had a little fun test on Saturday for fastest dog and we knew Jet was fast and this test was just up her alley. On top of that she had been locked up most of the day and had all kinds of pent up energy. She blew the other dogs away and only 1 was close to her but was over a second behind.

On Sunday morning they had a little waiting time during a part of the test and Abby was out there talking about wanting to have a dog when she gets bigger. Another guy heard and offered up one his dog for her to run thru a test. She just loved it and was so cute. When handing out ribbons after the test she was surprised by the judges with her own ribbon.

and I just to include this one cause dang she's cute

she got lots of compliments on her blue flower boots!

We had a great time even pushed thru our illnesses. Oh I didn't mention the illnesses? oh it was such a great week last week having Wyatt home from school four days hacking and running a fever. So great infact the little germ even infected both me and Abby. We were down pretty bad on Thursday and Friday but had started to rebound by Saturday. We are all 3 still coughing away like a chain smoker but hopefully that will get the heck out of here sooner rather than later since baseball practice starts this week!!

Yep baseball is about to start up again and we will be busy as ever with both of them playing. This means multiple practices a week and games. But I am excited to get the seasons going. Plus I can NOT wait to see Abby out there playing, she tried on her baseball pants the other day and omg is all I can say, just wait trust me there will be plenty of pics.

What a difference a week makes

Maybe mother nature reads my blog and finally took a hint from all my moaning and groaning over this terrible winter weather we have had around here lately. I know how I said I love the snow but we got a real good one a few weeks ago and that was enough for me.

It seems like we were destine to suffer for weeks and weeks in cold, snowy weather. After all this is our past few weekends:

1/30

2/8

2/15

but gosh were we in for a very pleasant surprise this past weekend. OMG it was absolutely beautiful, ya know the kind of weather that gives you a serious case of spring fever! We spent the weekend outside and for once we were not bundled like the marshmallow puff man or the little brother from Christmas Story.

We went to the greenway yesterday to get in a little exercise, Shane ran (5 miles can we say OMG!) and the kids rode their bikes well Abby rode hers most of the way until the chain fell off and I pushed it the rest of the way back!

this is crazy look at the difference in wardrobe!

Notice Wyatt way off in the distance she couldn't quite keep up with him

She loves her bike and daddy has to get it fixed ASAP so she can get back out there as soon as it is nice again because guess what? the weather today-notsomuch

and I actually thought the boy would finally get a full week of school in since afterall we didn't have any snow on the ground. Well that is till he woke up with a bad fever. Dang can't a girl get a break?

Weekend Recap

Well it was a nice week and weekend the weather was great most of the time, some real fall weather that we have been wanting so badly.

I had most of last week off due to one of the girls being sick and staying home. Wyatt got out of school early on Thursday so I ran some errands which included a trip to the Health Department-Yuck. They had gotten the H1N1 vacc in, so even though I was scared of the shot, I am more scared of them getting the virus and something terrible happening. A relatives perfectly healthy 12 yr old daughter died from the virus and that is what got me really thinking about getting the shot.

Wyatt has issues when he gets a small cold so no telling what this would do to him. He can not get the mist due to respiratory issues, so it was a shot for both of them. He was a real trooper and took it like a man, Abby on the other hand-she freaked the freak out! She was so good with her regular flu shot I didn't even hold her she sat there and took it, but I think she knew what was coming. I had to pin her down in my lap and hold her arm so the nurse could stab her, it was real fun-NOT!

So we did it and they had NO problem at all from it, Wyatt didn't even complain about his arm being sore like from the regular flu vacc we got a few weeks ago. Afterwards we headed to Sonic to get milk shakes for their bravery!

Saturday started off yucky, but I hoped we would see the sun and gladly the weather lady was right for once. There may have been some ugly emails sent if she had lied to me once again about the weather and telling me it was gonna be a nice day only to find out that the sun never makes an appearance.

We were off to the Pumpkin Patch, we went to a new one this year and it was fun. Muddy but fun. There were a few moments during the hay ride I was unsure if we would make it out of the mud!

They had alot of fun stuff for the kids to do and climb on

They also had a huge slide-the kids loved it and went down more than once

there was a small little patch

And a great "corn" maze. I say "corn" because it is actually sorghum which looks alot like corn. It ended up being the muddiest area of of the farm, but was alot of fun and a learning experience. In order to figure the maze out you had to answer questions. Wyatt did good and only took us the wrong direction once.

That evening we had a little bon fire out back and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows with some friends. They had never cooked hot dogs over a fire before! I couldn't believe it. It was a cold night but the fire kept the adults warm and the running around like maniacs kept the kids warm.

I got older, what did you do?

It is official I am now a 30something. So yep I am a year older but not much wiser.

Well Shane being the great hubs that he is had really planned it all out. Whatever, he had nothing planned. He came home from work on Friday afternoon gathered the kids and went on his normal last minute shopping trip. He is so thoughtful like that:)

I had told him about a month ago what I wanted, actually take that back I told him back in May what I wanted and didn't get for mother's day, so he could of had an idea since then. But being the man that he is he waited-WAITED til the night before to go get my gift that I wanted. A gift that has to be personalized. Sorta like this Necklace BTW that link is to her online store check it out. Or if you're close by they have an actual store-lots of cute stuff

He ran up to a friend's store to get it since I gave him instructions on even where to buy it:) He did really good and made up for his last minute trip by bringing some other things home, so as to not come home empty handed!

A cute coffee cup with my initial, because we all know how much I love my coffee and you can't go wrong with anything that involves it. Also a super cute frame that I plan on hanging in our bedroom. I think I am gonna use the pic over there --> of the kids from the beach.

When they got home he also told me that they had voted and planned on having my party that night even though it was a day early. I was so excited I even got to cook my own dinner at my party;) Abby has an obsession with birthday parties and everyone must have one. So they stopped at Publix and picked up a yummy cake.

sorry forgot to snap a pic before we cut into it:)

Saturday we had planned on going to the pumpkin patch but it was all kinds of yuck outside. Cold and rainy so we stayed home.

Saturday night we dropped the kids at Gram's house and went to dinner at Carrabba's-it was soooo good. Wine and good food was really what I needed. We then went to the movies and realized why we don't go to the movies on a Saturday night-dang it was crowded. I was bummed that our movie was sold out, they even had 2 showings at 7 but obviously all the teenager's there were buying it. Afterall it is only PG13 and has Vince Vaughn. We saw Zombieland, it was R so no teenagers, a plus in our eyes! You know your old when you become those people at the theater, ya know the ones who want to complain but don't because you don't want to be those people! anyways the movie was funny, gory but funny.

But dang the people there to see Paranormal Activity crazy! it was sold out for the night.

Sunday we were up bright and early to pick up the kids and head up to see our dog that is still at the trainers. We miss her so we all made the trip this weekend.

she was her normal spastic self and was happy to see everyone

We got back home and the day turned out to be sorta warm so we got a few things cleaned up outside and ready for winter, I was sad to take the hammock down. We love laying in it every afternoon. I brought some firewood in and last night we sat by the fire all night long-it was COLD! I woke up this morning to 29-WTH it is October not January.

Atleast it is suppose to be nice this week in the 70's so hopefully more like fall and not winter like the past few days. Maybe we will make it to the pumpkin patch.

What a craptastic weekend

Well it started all nice, I got done with "work" early on Friday went to the ballpark that evening it was all fun and good. We even ending the night with a run thru the McD's drive thru-I know very healthy, whatever.

Shane and Wyatt were going hunting Saturday morning so I was up at the buttcrack to help get them out the door (yes I am that great of a wife and he is very lucky) then it was back to bed. Abby came and climbed in the bed and I bribed her with chocolate milk so she would go back to sleep and we slept til a more decent hour. I left around 11:30 (child free I might add) to go get my hair cut. He left shortly after me and little to my knowledge this is where my weekend would take a turn for the worse.

I was just loving my uninterrupted me time getting my hair done, running by Sonic for some yummy fatty food and my new fav a Strawberry limeade chiller oh yea it is as good as it sounds you must stop what you are doing at this very moment and go get you one. I mean it GO! Then to make it even better I went and browsed thru Target for as long as I wanted and I didn't even have to look at toys! I mean seriously it was shaping up to be an awesome day.

I decided that it was time to head home and remember how I said my day would go from fun to sh*t this was it. When I pulled into the driveway I noticed my cat ya know this one and something wasn't right. As I got closer it became clear. He was dead. I immediately freaked and called Shane. He couldn't figure out what I was freaking out about. I told him to get home now! He was home within 15 minutes, and buried him. Only thing we can figure is that he was hit by the trailer Shane was pulling behind his truck when he left. He says he's sorry and had no clue that it had happened.

RIP little Fetch, I am sure Zeus will miss sharing his breakfast with you

Sunday I woke up feeling pretty craptastic so again I bribed Abby with some chocolate milk but this time I got her to stay on the couch and watch some TV-don't judge. I went back to bed and did not reemerge til about 11:15! Don't worry Shane was up, it isn't like I left my kids unattended half the day while I slept, I am not that crappy of a mom. I was still feeling pretty bad though. I did manage to feed my kids some lunch and do a little laundry but mostly I was just lazy. I took some drugs and felt a bit better as the day went on.

Today I am stuck with this hacking cough that makes me sound like I have been a chain smoker for a better part of my life, but unfortunately there was no sleeping in today as it is Monday and that means back to school and back to the daily grind. oh how fun

Happy 4th of July

Our weekend started Friday night with a trip to our old stomping grounds where we both grew up. My dad does a big BBQ there every year so we went and hung out and let him show off his Very adorable grandkids:) Over the weekend I am pretty sure Shane ate his weight in that BBQ and there is plenty more stashed in my freezer for later. If I thought that smellovision would have been invented soon I would have made a video of the BBQ cooking cause the smell is out of this world good.

We had a nice 4th hanging around the house, running a few errands, and hanging out with friends. We were lucky that the rain held out til after our fireworks show.

here's my "little sparkler" enjoying the night

There was also lots of playing with fire:)

lounging in daddy's lap

Yesterday was another day of running errands and trying to get our pool from a nasty shade of green to a nice clean swimmable pool again:) oh and rain. Also some getting reading for our trip.

Hey not sure if I have mentioned it lately but we are T-minus 5 days til this girl is lounging on the beach!

Weekend of fun

Well it's Monday again and time for my weekend wrapup and back to reality of kids, kids, and more kids.

So my weekend got off to an early start when I had the Friday off. I dropped Wyatt at nature camp and arranged for him to go home with a friend to swim afterwards. Then went to hubs work and dropped Abby and suddenly found myself kidless!! So what's a girl to do when she doesn't have any kids? Why go to the Dr of course, yea that Dr.

Um yea not what kind of day off I was looking forward to, but the day did get better. After picking up some lunch I headed out shopping to kill some time until my appointment for my massage!!!

Yep remember me telling you about the massage I got as a birthday gift way back in October? I finally went and got it. It was really good although I did think I was gonna have to stop her a few different times because it was a bit ticklish in spots:)

Saturday we headed up the interstate with a friend to a local community center outdoor pool area. It was a ton of fun we spent about 5 hrs there the kids were exhausted but still didn't want to leave.

Yesterday we woke up left hubs in the bed to sleep in (even though there was NO sleeping in for mommy on my day but whatever). We made a yummy breakfast of Monkey bread, bacon and eggs.

The kids loved making the bread, Wyatt is a pro at it since he makes it alot with his Gram, but this was just my 2nd time making it. I have to brag a bit and tell ya it came out super yummy.

We added nuts to ours

Thanks to Good and Crazy for sharing this recipe that she found from A Southern Fairytale

Then we headed to his dad's house for some fun in the sun. My kids are like little fish and love the water. Abby has been jumping off the side since last year but yesterday graduated to jumping off the diving board!! Wyatt was perfecting his cannon balls and getting thrown in the air by Shane.

We were pretty waterlogged after the weekend of water and today we are just staying inside and enjoying the AC. It is crazy hot out there.

Weekend Rewind

I know some say Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer and that was just the other day, but my summer has officially started.  Especially after the weekend of 90+ degrees!

Friday:
Wyatt is OUT of school!! This is awesome for many reasons but mainly because it means NO more car rider line. I have spent 2hrs of my day, 5days of week for the last 8mths going to and from his school and it has gotten OLD. Wednesday was his last day and Friday we picked up his report card and he was officially a 2nd grader!

And if you will bare with me for a minute while I brag on my boy.

He has done so well in school this year and has learned tons. From sorta reading by just sounding out words to reading outloud very well and comprehending everything he reads. He has gotten into chapter books and just amazes me more and more every day with all his knowledge. He has also done very well with spelling and math-thank God he got his daddy's math skills and not mine!

Check this out:

Do you see all those E & S's? Those are equal to A & B's. Well in the reading, language arts, and math because they get real grades on real tests in these subjects. He also went the entire school year without ever getting a behavior mark he and his best friend were the only 2 in his class to do so. He also did this last year.

Ok enough bragging on school onto bragging on baseball:)

Saturday:
We finished up baseball, unfortunately earlier than we would have wished but the win just wasn't in the cards for us that day. The kids loved getting medals for their outstanding season though.

I know I have mentioned Shane coaching Wyatt's team many times and how proud of him I am but this season again really drove it home for us. Being at the ballpark for the past 3 years spring and fall you really get to see some of the other coaches and how they behave out there and what type of example they set for the kids. I will leave it at I am VERY proud of the example Shane is setting for my son and all the kids on his team. I hope all the parents on our team feel the same way about him.

We will definitely miss hanging out at the park.  Hopefully fall ball will hurry up and get here.  Oh and we have next spring to look forward to having 2 kids playing:) yep Abby will be 4 and old enough to start tball and trust me she can not wait!

While at the game Abby and one of her good little friends had been fighting with each over the buckle on B's stroller:) I know of all things. Anyways Abby ended up with a finger in her eye and wouldn't stop complaining. The Dr says she only has to wear the patch for a couple of days and after that they will recheck it but hopefully she will be just fine.

Ok so I am just joking Amber I know you read this and I couldn't resist:)

After Abby had a nap we headed to the lake to take the boat out. Abby loves the boat and you can't go fast enough for her she just yells faster! The kids had a blast catching or trying to catch fish. Most of the fish got the upper hand and were just getting free meals of all you can eat worms! But there were a few little guys that we managed to land.

No Abby is not afraid of fish and yes I put the worm on the hook for her. I can't be teaching my girl that worms and fish are yuck, if she is gonna survive this house full of outdoors peeps she has to deal with it. Well I will give her a pass on spiders because everyone know those things are hideous!!

Sunday:
It was just a day spent mostly around the house working and playing outside. The kids played in the pool most of the day.

And Shane and I worked in the garden, we picked and shucked more peas than I care to count, but hey it is worth it,  I think.  Now we are back to Monday and back to the daily grind.

Weekend wrapup

Our weekend technically got started on Friday since there was no school. It was a beautiful, sunny and HOT weekend here in TN. Not sure what happened to spring but 89 seems more like summer to me.

Friday we enjoyed the shade in the back yard

Abby is all about the baby she just loves to love on her-poor thing sometimes I think if she could talk she would tell her to back off!

Saturday of course was baseball time; thankfully we had a 9:30 game since it was so hot.

and if I can just take a minute to really brag on my little man. He and daddy have really been working on his hitting and are even going to the batting cages. Well Friday evening's trip must have really done something because he had two awesome hits from daddy pitching and did not have to hit off the tee (6yr old they can hit off the tee or be pitched to but it is still 3 strikes your out either way). The best part though was his 2nd up to bat! He got a HOMERUN I was SOOOO freaking proud of him. This is his first of the season (hopefully not last). The team we played on Saturday was all business, no kiddy stuff for them-so the fact that he made it around all the bases was awesome!! Oh and he got an RBI with it also.

After the game we were off to the airport to see daddy away, he had a work trip to Baltimore. He had to go learn some more stuff. After dropping him we did some shopping-the kids had some money burning holes in their pockets. Wyatt couldn't resist buying more legos-as if he needs anymore and Abby bought them a sprinkler.

I must have had some burning a hole also cause I couldn't resist buying these for my little man. I can see him now strolling on the beach looking SO handsome.

I couldn't find the shirt and shoes on their site so I snapped a pic

After that we headed to the movies to see Monsters VS Aliens, in 3D no less. which brings me to a point about the cost of a movie ticket these days. You would think with the economy in crapper they would make some things a little more accessible to the common person. I spent $19.50 on 2 tickets! and $14 on 1 popcorn and 1 drink! It is ridiculous.

But Abby did look funny in her 3D glasses

Yesterday we headed to Old time pottery to buy lots of flowers, I had 2 pots on the front porch and one huge pot on the back deck that were in need of filling with color. I am not all that creative with flower arranging so I cheated and found some online I liked and then went and bought those flowers:) I will have to take some pics once they fill out and look better, but I think they look great if I do say so myself.

Also since it was so sunny and HOT yesterday the kids decided to try out the new sprinkler.

now it is Monday and back to same ol same ol-Ya know carrider line, kids, wiping behinds, etc. So how was your weekend? good I hope

Weekend Recap

I shall call this weekend Fun in the Sun and No Fun in the No Sun

Saturday was a Warm beautiful spring day, we spent most of it outside. We had a ballgame and OMG let me tell ya it was a game to forever go down in history. I have never cheered so much or so loud:) at one time I began to think it was a cheering match between the two bleachers.

We played an awesome game and Almost pulled it out, but it ended with Wyatt trying to score the winning run by running his hardest home after the coach sent him; unfortunately the ball got there before he did and he hasn't quite developed his slide or take out the catcher and make him drop the ball skills-just kidding on the taking out the catcher kinda so he got tagged out-MAN talk about a nail bitter-We did tie though.

Saturday was a prime example of why I LOVE my hubs being the WONDERFUL coach he is, and had that been my daughter that got her bat yanked out of her hand by her coach I would have been on that field and she would have been done with her Tball career right there. I will be nice and leave it at that but just know our tie and ALMOST win goes deep and it made our season:)

Look at how freaking cute this girl is; I mean seriously come on!

this is why I haven't kicked her and her Little Evil attitude out the house yet!

Wyatt is still doing well at his 2nd base position he made an out and was just a second short from making a second out.

gotta love the LL Cool J look going on there with his pants

Then we took the team for celebratory ice cream at Sonic-coach's treat. I told you he is the best coach ever

Then after the game and Sonic it was home to do a little manual labor in the garden. I thought this a perfect time to use my free child labor!

Heck they plan on eating the stuff we grow, they need to at least earn their keep!

And just because I love love bare feet in the dirt

like the foot tattoo? She wants to be like her mommy-aint she sweet?

Sunday, well it was a yucky rainy day spent mostly indoors, oh there was that trip to the grocery how fun.

Monday is back to reality and back to work for the lady I babysit for so I am back to full time work with both kiddos, how fun. Monday also means no more sleeping in, even if it is just one extra hour I LOVE that extra hour I NEED that extra hour-I hate Mondays
