Wonderful Wednesday-Hockey night

Wow it has been forever seen I have done a Wordful Wednesday post but I thought I would jump back in with a great pic I got of the kids over the weekend, see it is a rare thing these days to get a picture with both of them.

We headed to a Predators hockey game over the weekend, it was the first one we had all made together this season, Abby and I had went a little while back on one of our girls nights out and had a great time cheering on our boys.

Hockey use to be one of our favorite things to do but in the last couple of years with baseball and school and just generally being busy it has become harder.  Abby actually attended her first hockey game when she was only about 3mths old and was a season veteran by 2 :) They have met many of the players and Wyatt once even got the chance to skate with a few of them when he did a hockey school.  We all had a great time watching the Preds put a hurt on the Sharks and the kids loved their free frosties from Wendy's on the way home :)

Wordful Wednesday-beach time

We made it back from the beach the other day and had another wonderful time this year. As usual 1 week is never enough and I have already started plotting on how to squeeze two weeks out next year.

I have perfected posing for a picture in a bathing suit with my kids at the beach, the bigger they get the more they hide ;)

Wordful Wednesday-My Ballers

We had a busy baseball weekend here again last weekend. Abby had a game on Saturday morning and Wyatt had 3 games Saturday one of which was at the same time as Abby's and 1 game on Sunday. So I am sporting fun tan lines that remind me for sunscreen to work you must one actually apply it and if my some chance to do remember to put some on you must reapply it ;)

I snapped some super cute pics of Abby in her gear.

Shane's mom took Wyatt to his game and as soon as Abby's was over we headed to the other ballpark. Abby loves hanging with the boys and usually fits right in with them. This is 2 of their favorite buddies that just happen to be identical twins and even though I have known them for about 4 yrs I still can't tell them apart other than knowing that one of them is currently wearing his hair a little longer:)

Can't you see the similarities? :)

Wordful Wednesday-Arkansas youth hunt

Back a few weeks ago Shane and Wyatt headed down to Arkansas again, this time though it was a youth only hunt which meant Shane would not get to do any hunting but would get to sit back and watch. Joining them also was one of the Dr's Shane works with and his 2 daughters. The kids had a great time, shot lots of shotgun shells and a few ducks. Shane declared that it was one of the best hunts he had ever been on, seeing that he has been to Arkansas many times and loves to hunt but didn't actually get to hunt this is saying alot.

Suzie and Jet enjoyed hanging with one of their favorite guys

And Suzie got to practice some of her skills

Wordful Wednesday-She's got some new sparkle

A little over a week ago Abby went thru a sorta right of passage for all little girls. She got her ears pierced!! It sorta came out of the blue since just a few months ago she had proclaimed she would never get her ears pierced after she heard how they did it. But something changed not sure what but she suddenly started asking for it, and asking hard. She even tried to get me to sneak her to get it done while her daddy was out of town since she thought he would say no:) I made her wait it out though and after lots of talking about it and her promising to be brave and to let me clean them as much as I needed we set the date.

She was SOOO brave! They did both ears at the same time and to tell you the truth I think I was more scared than she was, she was just so excited. They counted to 3 and it was done, she didn't even shed 1 tear, not one scream nothing she just sat there with this look of great pride on her face:)

After getting it done and browsing the mall some more we headed home and when we got in the van she said "I am SO proud of myself" I couldn't help but laugh at that.

Wordful Wednesday-many years ago

This past Christmas Shane and I had another celebration in the back of our minds. See he and I met on Christmas night and this past Christmas marked 16yrs that we had been together. So I got to thinking about something kinda funny, since I had just turned 16 a little while before we met I knew soon there would come a day that I had had him in my life longer than I had been without him in my life.

I spent 16yr 2months 7days with out him, not knowing that just the very next day I would meet the love of my life, my soul mate, my best friend.

When we met I didn't think "wow there he is, the man I will marry someday" but afterall I was only 16. We had our first date the very next day, and after a little while we were inseparable.

1996 my senior prom

We had our ups and downs over the next few years but we stuck it out and a little over 5yrs later we made it official.

Then we had kids and the real fun began!

Now with all that being said I need a favor from everyone in blog land that is reading this. Tomorrow he will be having shoulder surgery and will be at the mercy of his surgeon and anesthesiologist while I sit and wait. He wouldn't admit being nervous if he is but I will be, so think some good thoughts for us tomorrow. While I have almost had him in my life longer than I have been without him, it's not long enough!

Wordful Wednesday-The Rockettes

Saturday Me, Abby and my MIL headed to see the Rockettes. Abby was all excited to get to dress up in her pretty dress. The night before I rolled her hair up in foam curlers and made her sleep on them so that her hair would be all pretty and curly.

She looked so cute all dressed.

A close up of all those curls

Posing with Mommy

She really loved the show and sat and watched the entire thing with barely moving.

Wordful Wednesday-Abby and Ella

Back at the beginning of summer we headed to Atlanta and of course we had to take Abby to the American Girl Store. While there she picked up matching shirts for her and Ella and yesterday I finally remembered to take a picture of them in their matching shirts.

Wordful Wednesday-bathroom makeover

When we moved into our house almost 11yrs ago (wow can't believe it's been that long) there were lots and I mean LOTS of project that had to be done and over the years we have gotten them all done and some we have done multiple times. The front bathroom is just such a room. When we bought it there was hideous wallpaper so we set off to remove it and it was a Nightmare!! After giving up and shutting the door for almost 2mths cause I just couldn't take working on it anymore while working 50+hrs a week and planning a wedding. Finally we broke down and got it done one weekend. Then the kids came along and I changed it, then kids got bigger and I decided it needed another redo.

A few weeks ago we set out to get it done, after some money dropped at Target and Lowe's we had all we needed. Shane had to do alot of work on the walls from the original wallpaper incident. This involved lots of spackle and lots of sanding, which is very noisy and very dusty. I am also pretty positive it was exactly the cause of this post about the inturder. I have a theory that he was disturbed and came up from under the house. I don't know but let's hope getting picked up by kitchen tongs and thrown out the front door made him learn his lesson and he will stay far away.

So after all the mess and me freaking out over the snake and being scared another would be waiting for me in the towels under the cabinet, it got done. We love how it turned out.

I found this rug and shower curtain and went from there

yea, yea the curtain is wrinkled don't judge

I painted the walls a light blue and until we can find a new vanity we love and can afford we decided to just paint the one we have brown. I also painted the cubby thing we had on the wall for towels and such the same brown. We replace the light fixture, got a new mirror, curtain rod and towel ring.

In the end it was fairly quick and mostly painless (if you forget the whole snake thing)

Wordful wednesday-One great hit

Last night the tournaments started for both of the kiddos and I am SO excited to say that they both won their games so they are still in it!

posing with brother's bat, it's huge and it was so funny to see her get up there swing it and hit it past second base. I was told that when she came up to bat with this one talks of "she a big hitter get ready" could be heard:) that just cracks me up cause she is so tiny and totally unassuming.

We had done some serious practicing in the yard on Monday and after seeing Abby play last night looks like it paid off. Her first hit was a good one, her last hit which was with brother's big bat was great but it is what happened in between that was awesome.

Abby got her first HOME RUN! and even better a grand slam! OMG talk about a momma that was about to go crazy, that was me. I was SOOO excited for her. She was too, she knew exactly what had happened and was so proud of herself.

After the game Shane handed out balls to all the team for a great game and saved Abby for last, he gave her the game ball. She was beside herself with excitement. She told everyone that would listen what she had done and that daddy had given her the "actual game ball":)

We were at the ballpark most of the night last night since she played at 5:30 and he played at 8:00 and looks like it will be an all nighter again tonight. Wyatt plays at 5:30 and then we are staying to watch his best friend play at 8:00. Man I hope Wyatt's team wins tonight they played so great last night and were so due a great win.

Last week was our Big 10! Shane came home with these

What makes these roses more special than just any roses?

Before we left to go out of town he showed up at my house with 2 dozen roses-1 dozen pink and 1 dozen red. That just happened to be the weekend in May 1999 that he proposed to me!

AWWWWW aint he sweet? I guess I will keep him around another year ;)
