The last of the garden

Over the weekend Shane we dug up the last of the garden harvest. It was suppose to be sweet potatoes but instead we found some crazy alien like things in the ground.

Now my goal is to figure out what to do with all of them.

There were also some little toads buried in the dirt Abby and Wyatt loved getting peed on by playing with them.

Wordful Wednesday-What was once lost now is found

Remember this post and how at the end of it I mentioned a certain lost article of my husband's.

Well lucky for us, what was lost has now been found!

Yep that would be the infamous wedding ring! Yes it was in the garden. How you ask would we finally find his ring all this time later?

Yes that would be a medal detector! My dad brought it over and he went over where hubs had been digging the sweet potatoes and sure enough there it was buried in the dirt.

The last of the garden harvest

The last two night hubs has been working hard in the garden to get the last harvest of the season. Sweet Potatoes have been patiently waiting to be dug up. We were pleasantly surprised at how well they did considering we planted them last year and got I think 4 potatoes:)

So of course I had to grab the camera and get some shots of our big helpers and big potatoes!

Not sure about this face she is making, also forgive the bed head of hair she had just woke up from her nap.

Showing off two of the big boys and his cool guy hair!

PS if anyone has a medal detector they could send my way I would be your BFF seeing hubs is convinced that the garden is where his wedding ring is!!! Yep you heard me right I said wedding ring, fortunately or unfortunately this is not the first time this has happened so the whole "that is the ring I put on your finger the one the preacher prayed over during our wedding" thing is not bothering me, that happened about a year and a half into our marriage! Yep this was his 3rd ring in 8 1/2 years.

How does your garden grow?

Well I thought I would give a garden update since I did a post when we started planting. I harvested our first veggies the other day.

Lettuce

Here is a view of most of it, notice the electric fence around it, that is to keep the deer out. Those dang things will help themselves to anything and everything they can get a hold of-We know this from experience!

Abby and I planted some pumpkins the other day so we hopefully will have our own pumpkin patch come fall time! We should be getting some squash and zucchini by this weekend just in time for our father's day grill out. I also plan on picking some of our green tomatoes and frying them up.

The garden has begun

Well most of you know that every year for a really long time we have had a garden. It has seemed to grown a little every year, well this year Shane decided to move it and make it even bigger. I am sure we will have enough veggies to feed a small country or at least enough to set up a vegetable stand in the front yard and make Wyatt sit out there and look oh so cute and sell them all!

Dad came today brought his tractor and played like he was a real farmer and tilled it up for us. Well Shane couldn't resit and had to get out in it tonight planting. He seriously loves it, I say it is his love affair he has in the summer. He spends so much time out there, but we all to really enjoy it even the kids. I am just happy they are getting big enough to pull their weight and start pulling some weeds or helping to shuck the 1000's of ears of corn I predict Shane will have grown.

Of course I had the camera out there tonight as they played in the dirt and helped daddy plant some onions. Peas are going in tomorrow-Can't you here the excitement in my voice?

I found this huge alien like beetle in the garden and Shane was so happy when his little girl wasn't afraid to hold it-of course it was dead though.
