SNOW

Snow is becoming an ugly 4 letter word around here lately. We have had more snow days lately than I care to mention. Now I like snow to a certain extent, as in-in snows a pretty fluffy snow hangs around for a day or 2 then melts away. Lately though I am feeling like this isn't TN like I am use to. Snow is coming in inches and hanging around for days and days and shutting schools down for DAYS and DAYS. Today is the first Monday my son has gone to school since Dec. 6th!! Between Snow, Christmas break, and MLK. He has only gone to school for 10 days since Dec. 10th and one of those days he got out 2hrs early!

So what are you to do when you are surrounded by snow? Well play in it of course!

You start by making snow angels


then you build a snow man

yea yea he is kinda sad, but give us some slack we don't build many snowmen here in the south!

Then we were onto the dogs, they love the snow and act like fools


While all this is going on, I am wishing I was here:

of course without that bit of snow! Instead it would be a hot, sunny day!

then you head inside, sit by the fire and drink hot chocolate!

and for the rest of the day we sit warm inside and watch it snow and snow from the comfort of our warm jammies! Well until Daddy gets home that is, then you have to suit back up and play some more and jump on the four wheelers to do some donuts in the snow!


So yea they had fun so I guess it was worth it.




PS get this, they are calling for more this week!

Yet another day off from school

I swear here lately Wyatt is out of school more than he is in! They were out for snow today AGAIN! so it got me to thinking just how much he has been off so I had to look and it amazed me so I had to share

I am gonna break it down by week:
Dec 14th-4 full days Friday was a 2hr day but they partied so it doesn't count
next week no school xmas break
next week no school xmas break
next week-2 full days went back Tuesday; Thursday and Friday they were out for snow
next week-5 full days WOW!
next week-4 full days Monday was a holiday
next week-4 full days Friday out for snow
next week-2 full days Mon & Tue no school snow, Wed went 2 hrs late
last week-5 full days WOW!
which brings us to this week-so far no school yesterday it was a holiday and today no school for snow!!
and next week they get out early one day

I just hope we don't end up having to make up snow days some counties around here are already out of days and some are already over the allowed days.

I am glad he is smart and still seems to be learning something even with the lack of actual full days at school! I need him to be at school during the day for his sanity and mine. 4 kids all day long is to many when it is cold outside and there is nothing to do.

Snow Angels!

So like I said it snowed-ALOT! the most snow around here in about 7yrs.

Remember how the last time it "snowed" all Abby wanted was to make a snow angel? Well they got their snow angels


I can't remember the last time snow lasted this long. They played from Friday to Sunday and even got out for a couple minutes Monday although it was mainly wet, mushy stuff. There were hrs of sledding, four wheeler riding and snow ball fights.

It was so icy Saturday you could sled on pretty much anything. We have a hill at the end of our street and the skim board made for an awesome sled.


This was just her being pushed down the little hill on our front yard but she slid halfway across the yard.

She was yelling for daddy to watch her, he had already gone in after his sledding incident landed him soaking wet and in pain, yes we are to old for sledding and found out the hard way.

We even went redneck and pulled the kiddos behind the four wheeler on the sled


well that is until the incident:)

*No this is not right after the incident this was a bit later after she had gotten over it and decided that she wouldn't let a little booboo slow down her fun.

yep looks like she was in a fight, when she came up I saw blood and immediately thought OMG she broke her nose! luckily that was not the case and she just lost a little skin in a few spots. Hey at least she had on a helmet.

On Sunday we dug out the beach toys and made snow castles


Monday they both had dentist appts early and while driving there it was SO pretty right around here. All the fields were covered in snow and all the trees were covered in ice and since it was sunny it all sparkled.

But after this many days of snow I totally see why all you guys up north get so tired of it. Wet, snow covered shoes are gonna be the death of me. Well that and no school! Yep he was out Friday, Monday and Tuesday and I may have just sent him regardless tomorrow had they tried to close down. They are going 2hrs late which is actually pretty good since I get to sleep in a bit and still get him out of the house for a few hrs.

Get this they say it might snow again the first of next week! but of course that is still enough days away that if it doesn't they can totally make up some sort of excuse of why it isn't their fault.

After that last pic yesterday is continued to snow and snow I think they said we ended up with about 4in but then last night is sleeted and rained a bit and that made everything a solid sheet of ice over the snow. It is very crunchy and VERY slippery out there today. But it makes for some awesome sledding or should I say skim boarding:)



We have already been out once today and looks like we are about to head out again cause the kids are dying to get out in it again. I've taken tons of pics and will be posting them soon, maybe also some videos. I've also got some great videos proving our great parenting skills. I really do wish I could ad the disclaimer of "no one was harmed in the making of these videos" because unfortunately someone or more exact Abby was. She did a flip off the sled and her face hit the hard icesnow, her pretty little face is so pitiful looking.

Wow the weather man got it right this time!

Because they predicted snow and guess what??

it's SNOWING!!!! WOOHOO

yes I know that is sad but it has just started and maybe they will be right with the prediction of inches, time will tell.

It is now 1:15 and this is the view out my front door

there is a driveway and a road out there somewhere. Hubs is on his way home from work and the mom of the girls I watch is on her way we will see how long it takes them to get home cause this is TN and people are freaking nuts and have NO clue how to drive and they have already shut down the interstate because of a 15 car pile up! Good thing is she is from Michigan so this is just a dusting to her.

And wow what the difference a week makes just on Sunday we had tons of snow and by Wed it was warm and yesterday I think it was 70 and we had our first baseball practice of the season!

Snowed In

Friday afternoon we headed out of town, we were heading to Jackson so that Shane could run Jet (our dog) in a hunt test. It was suppose to be a nice short trip just to get us out of here and get a change of scenery, well the weather decided to take a change for the worst and the kids and I spent most of Saturday sitting in the car while Shane ran the dog thru her test and watched other dogs. Luckily for my sanity my children were on better than normal behavior and were so well behaved. They did have lots of junk food, Nintendo DS, and tv's to keep them occupied so we were lucky.

They loved staying in the hotel and lucky for us it was a pretty decent hotel considering what was in store for us.



We were set to leave Sat. evening and make the 2 1/2hr drive back home-that is til mother nature decided to have a little fun as in LOTS of snow kinda fun. Our what was suppose to be 30min drive back to where the hotel was took 1 1/2 hrs so we decided to just get a room and stay another night. The kids were super excited about all the snow falling, I was not at all excited about the amount of morons on the road around us and just knew it was only a matter of time before one of them crashed into us. In the maybe 15 mile drive we saw no fewer than 12 cars off the road.

We woke up to a winter wonderland Sunday morning, it was more snow than my kids have ever seen. The hotel had a huge front yard so we took full advantage of it and went out to play. The snow was so deep Abby was having a hard time even walking in it, it was hilarious to watch her try to take a step, then fall, then get stuck. Unfortunately we were not prepared with snow type of clothing so the play only lasted about 30 min. before the fear of frost bite forced us all to go back in.



She loved making snow angels and even got daddy in on it.


We were happy to see that the snow had made it's way to our house although not as much but it was a good snow for us and it had stuck around long enough for us to get home.

Like my little evil kenival on his four wheeler? He has learned the trick of doing donuts and can not get enough of it.


Oh and I also almost forgot to mention and my hubs would be so sad if I forgot to mention how well his little girl Jet did. She passed her hunt test and got another ribbon and is on her way to being even more special.
