One thing (or eight) that kept us busy this summer

You've heard me go on and on about our crazy pack of dogs we have and love.  Well over the summer we figured 4 dogs just wasn't enough that we should add more to the mix.  I agreed because they only would be temporary residence of our house and come on who can resist brand new puppies and puppy breath? Also the last time we had a litter of puppies Wyatt was little bitty.
The black puppy in this picture is the mom of Wyatt's dog, Suzie

When we left for vacation we left a very pregnant Jet and when we returned we had these guys.
You counting? yep that was 8 more dogs around here

I know seriously how cute?

But like all Labradors they didn't stay small for very long. Soon they were escaping their pool and causing all kinds of craziness around here.

Shane's sister took this cute guy

As you can guess the puppies were a big hit with the kids and lots of hours were spent outside in the kennel with them. The little girl I babysit was obsessed with them she talked puppy the moment she walked in the door every morning and her mom said she talked about puppies all weekend long too:)  I will say it is sad to see them go, but I also did a little happy dance with every departure, cause dang 8 puppies make a big mess:)  We do still have one hanging out with us for the time being, so that makes everyone happy.

Our Newset Addition

Over the weekend along with lots of baseball (I'll have more on that later) we managed to add another addition to our family. He is SO tiny, has the sweetest face with these big brown eyes and just like all babies he sleeps, eats, poops and wakes up all hours of the night.

I would like for you all to meet Tuck.

weighing in at a whopping 2.5lbs he stole our hearts the moment we saw him and we are in love:) He is technically Abby's puppy, he is her belated birthday present.

Yea yea for those of you keeping a tally we now have 4 dogs, but OMG how can you say NO to this?

Saturday night they were out in the garage AKA The Man Cave, Shane texted me and I went out to see this laying on the floor.

And it only got better

We are missing him today since Shane took him to work with him to get him checked out by the Dr. He got a clean bill of health so that makes me very happy. Oh and if you are wondering he is a wire hair Dachshund .

Weekend Getaway

Well this past weekend we headed back to Jackson, TN. Luckily the weather cooperated more this year than it did last year. We were prepared for the worse this year though and took lots of extra warm clothes just in case.

We went down for another hunt test for our dog, but this time it was Suzie. Who technically is Wyatt's dog. She ended up doing a fantastic job and passed her tests on both Saturday and Sunday.

Gotta give a shoutout to a bloggy friend for fixing this picture for me. She was able to green up the grass and take multiple things out of the background that I didn't want in the picture. She did a fantastic job.

The kids had a blast getting to see all the other dogs and even got to get in on the action a little with a Junior Handler test. We had also taken Jet so the kids ran her in their tests. They were extactic to get trophies for job well done.

They also had a little fun test on Saturday for fastest dog and we knew Jet was fast and this test was just up her alley. On top of that she had been locked up most of the day and had all kinds of pent up energy. She blew the other dogs away and only 1 was close to her but was over a second behind.

On Sunday morning they had a little waiting time during a part of the test and Abby was out there talking about wanting to have a dog when she gets bigger. Another guy heard and offered up one his dog for her to run thru a test. She just loved it and was so cute. When handing out ribbons after the test she was surprised by the judges with her own ribbon.

and I just to include this one cause dang she's cute

she got lots of compliments on her blue flower boots!

We had a great time even pushed thru our illnesses. Oh I didn't mention the illnesses? oh it was such a great week last week having Wyatt home from school four days hacking and running a fever. So great infact the little germ even infected both me and Abby. We were down pretty bad on Thursday and Friday but had started to rebound by Saturday. We are all 3 still coughing away like a chain smoker but hopefully that will get the heck out of here sooner rather than later since baseball practice starts this week!!

Yep baseball is about to start up again and we will be busy as ever with both of them playing. This means multiple practices a week and games. But I am excited to get the seasons going. Plus I can NOT wait to see Abby out there playing, she tried on her baseball pants the other day and omg is all I can say, just wait trust me there will be plenty of pics.

A little break from beach pics

Yes go ahead tell me how crazy I am, I can take it I am a big girl and I've got my big girl panties on.

This is what came home to join us yesterday.

But dang ain't she cute? She is lucky that she is cute considering the 4am wake up call she gave us and again at 6am.

I am pretty sure when that 4am call comes tonight Wyatt will be answering it instead of Shane! That little you know what slept soundly thru all of it.

She is the granddaughter of our old man Drake. Her mom is a puppy from Drake and Mossy who is no longer with us may she rest in peace, all though I don't think as crazy as she was there is any peace in dogie heaven:) So we are keeping it in the family.

I think she has a name, that is til Shane changes his mind. Drake's Little Suzie, Suzie for short. Drake is a boy duck and Suzie is a girl duck so it is fitting, Shane is a duck hunter hence the duck reference. Now don't say I never taught you anything!

We keep thinking we don't have much more time with Drake which really makes me very sad, so having this girl to carry on his legacy makes me happy. Drake was our baby before we were married and had babies.

Shane has big plans for her and Wyatt, she is technically Wyatt's dog.

So who is keeping track?? If you have lost count let me help you. 2 cats, it could have been 3 but the neighbor still feeds my old cat and he never comes home:) 1 inside dog- Zeus the French Bulldog (who is currently snoring beside me), 2 Labradors that live outside, and now Suzie who for the time is inside and outside, but it will wear quickly on my nerves and she will be joining Jet and Granddad outside soon! Oh and the fish, one which went belly up while were were on vacation.

Dogs, Frogs, and Oh Yea Happy Mother's Day

So yep it was Mother's Day yesterday, a day to celebrate my greatness as the wonderful mommy the we all know I am.

How would such a day be celebrated? Breakfast in bed after sleeping in late? Pampering mommy while she sits and does nothing? A trip to the spa? A yummy not cooked by me lunch? and other great things that don't require much work from me?

Yea not so much. There was a wonderful breakfast prepared by the hubs and kids that consisted of homemade (Bisquick) heart shaped biscuits, with chocolate gravy and fruit with dip. Unfortunately said breakfast was eaten way to early for my liking in about 10 minutes as we had to rush out of the house. Shane didn't even get to enjoy the breakfast that we scarfed down so fast we were barely able to enjoy it. But it was the thought that counts-right?

Where were we off to in such a hurry at such an early hour? Why a hunt test for the beloved dog of course!

Shane had ran her Saturday and needed to also run her Sunday so she could earn her title. She passed both days with flying colors and is now officially worth more;) any takers? j/k kinda

Saturday evening we went to the dinner and to pick up her ribbon. They also had a junior handler run and Wyatt ran Jet in it. He did awesome and had daddy not been standing to close she would have come to Wyatt and heeled instead of going to daddy which is where she knows she is suppose to go:) He also got a blue ribbon which he is very proud of.

All joking aside I did have a good time with the fam yesterday, the kids loved playing with the other kids and just getting to have a care free day with the occasional check in with mom or dad. There was LOTS and LOTS of mud since we have gotten almost 7 inches of rain since the start of May! We almost had to swim to the back to watch Jet do her water run, only the swimming was in mud. Wyatt fell in it first thing and was covered knee down.

Here is my girl fetching up a duck in the water.

Yes ducks were harmed in the making of this weekend sorry all you duck lovers out there

One of the things is you have to wear camo as not to distract the dogs. Here is my girl just putting all the camoed others to shame with her OMG to cuteness

Also while watching the water runs the kids discovered that the frogs ran plentiful and the hunt began. They picked up three in a matter of minutes. This was much more interesting to them then the tests being ran!

And another to prove my girl even though she has her girly side is not afraid to slip into the tomboy role as needed.

Yes that is a frog crawling out of her pocket they wanted to keep it and were trying to figure a way to smuggle it out.

me and my loves on mommy's day
No I didn't have on my camo shirt I bought this one there that day to support a guy who is donating half his profits to breast cancer

And here is how the day ended!

Yep that is 3 buckets of water being dumped on Wyatt and the hubs. It is a tradition at the hunt club to water you down when you dog earns a title. Shane made Wyatt join him hence the holding him in his lap.

Oh and what do you get a wonderful mommy like me for her day? Why these of course!

Oh yea I am that loved! Now aren't you jealous of me?

She is lucky she is so cute!

So I guess I still don't regret the dog decision but she is lucky she is so dang cute. Since getting here she has piddled on my floor on more than one occasion, she has woken me up earlier than I wish to be out of bed, and caused some general chaos in my house during the day (like 3 kids wasn't enough).

But today was the day, I let her play with Zeus the French Bulldog of ours in the laundry room & they can get pretty wild. It can only happen in there not out in my house or outside, since it is 150 degrees here Zeus with his smashed face would stroke out in minute out there!

I went to check on their behavior and make sure they were not destroying anything & I hear her banging around in Zeus' kennel so I look and this is what I find.....

That would be 1 of Abby's Crocs-$30 and 1 Merrell, 1 Reef flip, and 1 New Balance shoe (all Shane's BTW)-worth way more than she can afford!!

I sent this pic to Shane also and he responded "oh she misses me"-Did I mention the dog was HIS idea.

Her first trip to the lake

We decided to take Jet (yep she finally has a name) to the lake today for her first time to go swimming and fetch in the water. She did very well and could swim like a fish (much to Shane's delight). She was a little nervous about the waves from the TONS of boat/wave runner traffic and would stand on the bank and bark at her toy because she didn't want to go in after it but then she would give in and take off into the water.

I forgot the camera so these are snapped from Shane's camera.

Here she is after a hard day of swimming, she fell asleep in Wyatt's lap

How could I say No

So Shane informs me yesterday that he has this new idea. This idea just happens to include a new puppy YES you heard me correct I said another dog!! Anyone keeping count? That would now be 2 big outside dogs, 1 dog that has to live inside, 2 outside cats and now a puppy!!

But she does come from good lines and we do hope to someday start breeding and having puppies again. I have been joking and telling Shane she is famous by association since the guy he got her from works for a pretty famous country music couple.

Then he comes home with her today and seriously how could I say no. So far I am not regretting this decision but we haven't gone to bed yet!

You have to start them early:)

She is pretty cute

She does love the water already; I guess this is a good thing

Oh yea BTW she has no name! and if you haven't figured it out yet she is a Black Labrador

Forbidden Love

Our Cat Pib and Zeus the French Bulldog just love each other. Pib has always had a thing for some of our dogs he use to get in the kennel with Curly, I only wish I would have snapped a pic of that it was great. He however does not like to be chased by the other big dogs.

He and Zeus developed an immediate love for each other when Zeus came to live with us and they have since then had a great time playing and lounging together on the deck. They were hillarious to watch playing tonight and I tried to snap some pictures thru the door, so as not to disrupt their good time.

Zeus and backyard baseball

Well we recently learned that Yes French bulldogs can fetch! Well sorta-it has to be a squishy ball not a hard baseball, since his face is all smashed in he has no mouth to put the ball in. The other day Wyatt was practicing his hitting in the back yard and Zeus was loving it, he got tons of exercise chasing those balls around. More exercise than he has had in the past 6 mths combined.
