Take me out to the ball park

Well it's that time of the year again-Baseball season!  Wyatt had his first tournament of the season this past weekend with his travel ball team.  They did good & finished 2-2.  It was the first of many weekends that will be spent at the ballpark  Abby's season hasn't started yet but it is just a few short weeks away and then with all the practices and games we will be in full baseball chaos :)  I can't wait til her games start though so I can get some pics of them together in their matching uniforms, see this year Wyatt's team is the Middle TN Mayhem and since there are three younger siblings on Abby's team they are the Mini Mayhem!

After the games on Saturday Abby and I had a little Mommy/Abby time and went to the nail salon, there is a new place here in town that has kid sized chairs.  This was her first time getting the full on pedicure treatment, before she has been to short to reach the water or foot rests in the big chairs.  She LOVED it, got to put her feet in the hot water, got a foot massage and even got her own hot towel wrap:)  She got her finger nails painted also-she was in heaven!  Of course she got them painted in Mayhem blue to show some love to the boys.  They also painted her a pretty flower on her big toes!

Wonderful Wednesday-Hockey night

Wow it has been forever seen I have done a Wordful Wednesday post but I thought I would jump back in with a great pic I got of the kids over the weekend, see it is a rare thing these days to get a picture with both of them.

We headed to a Predators hockey game over the weekend, it was the first one we had all made together this season, Abby and I had went a little while back on one of our girls nights out and had a great time cheering on our boys.

Hockey use to be one of our favorite things to do but in the last couple of years with baseball and school and just generally being busy it has become harder.  Abby actually attended her first hockey game when she was only about 3mths old and was a season veteran by 2 :) They have met many of the players and Wyatt once even got the chance to skate with a few of them when he did a hockey school.  We all had a great time watching the Preds put a hurt on the Sharks and the kids loved their free frosties from Wendy's on the way home :)

Yep I am still here oh & lots has happened since my last visit

WOW I can't believe how long it's been since I posted here.  It's just I am pretty busy these days, with what you might ask? well this little cutie pie is just one of them :)

Nope I didn't hide anything from everyone.  He is not mine, but the next best thing.  He is the cure to my baby itch, I get to snuggle and cuddle him and smell his sweet baby shampoo head all day and then at 5:00 hand him back over to his mommy so I can sleep all night!! :) His big sister is pretty dang sweet & cute herself and is sure to keep me on my toes also.

We had a great Christmas, Jingles made sure they were on their best behavior and even made sure they were added to the "nice" list:
and thanks to this they got obscene amount of stuff! Shane and I did pretty good also, my favorite gift by far had to be the Tim/Kenny concert tickets for their concert here this June, I am pretty sure his favorite gift was a framed pic his dad got him of some great hunting pictures from the year.
The top is his huge deer he got in Illinois, the 2nd was just one of Wyatt's deer from this year, the 3rd was Wyatt & Jet with their ducks from one of their trips to Missouri, but it was the bottom one that got him.  Wyatt is maybe 2 1/2 and Shane is showing him how to hold and shoot a little gun, such a sweet moment I caught on camera.
We rang in the New Year with some good friends while the kids hung with Gram and then a few weeks later Abby had a fantastic birthday (I can't believe she is 6!!)

Since then we have had a boring no snow winter the kids are bummed because they seriously wanted some snow to play in.  Luckily this past weekend we were able to humor them with some for at least one day.  We along with my MIL met Shane's sis and her boys in Gatlinburg for a mini vacation.  It was SO much fun the kids had a blast hanging in the hot tub at the house, yes that is snow falling.  It started snowing Sunday night and they couldn't resist sitting out in it, we adults thought they were CRAZY but how do you convince 4 kids that it is TOO cold to go outside in your swimsuit?

We went up to Ober on Saturday & our main reason for going up was snow tubing but all the morning sessions were sold out so we used all the other stuff to keep us occupied while we waited for our turn.  We did all kinds of fun stuff like ice skating

Wyatt had obviously forgotten all that he learned from his ice skating lessons and hockey school and was out of control most of the time :) Abby was in heaven she had been wanting to go ice skating for a long time and did pretty good once she was brave enough to let go of the railing.  Shane of course was a natural (I guess he hasn't forgotten anything from his many years of playing hockey) we all hoped though he would wipe out since he was so smug and kept telling us how easy it was, unfortunately it never happened ;)

We also rode up the chair lift to the very top of the mountain the view was awesome, although it was weird not to see any snow at the tops of the mountains.

It was a gorgeous sunny day in the mid 50's but luckily there was plenty of man made snow.  All the kids (and adults) loved the snow tubing! I was nervous the kids would drive us nuts waiting for it but luckily we didn't have to threaten anyone with a beating and they all behaved waiting the LONG 5hr wait!

Monday morning we woke up to just enough snow to be pretty but not make it impossible to get down off the mountain where our cabin was.  Shane being the biggest kids of them all of course had to start a snow
ball fight

but we still managed to get the kids to sit still long enough to snap a good pic of them all together

We had a great time with everyone and can't wait to see them again soon.

Oh Pinterest, Pinterest, Pinterest.  I had read all about this place through the blog world, everyone was talking about it, but I resisted not really understanding what all the hype was about.  But then a few of my IRL friends started talking about it and I just had to know more.  Well a few weeks ago I broke down and created an account, and that my friends was the beginning of the end! One blogger I read wrote it best "This place is like crack to the creative type" or those who just aspire to be creative like me ;) I have said it many times I am not creative but I am great at stealing other people's ideas!  Well friends if that is you Pinterest is the place for you.

BUT good things can come from Pinterest.  I figured if I am gonna spend countless hours scrolling though other people's boards I better have something to show for it.  You would be amazed at what you can learn.  Like for instance I learned that I can wash my shower curtain liner in the washer with some bleach and vinegar.  Supposedly the vinegar cuts the soap scum and the bleach will get rid of the mildew stains.
click the picture it will take you to my cleaning/organizing board where you can click it to take you to the website that gives the instructions on washing your liner.

So I tried it, I threw it in the washer & they suggest you wash it with towels to help scrub away the gunk.  Well I don't really have any towels that I bleach so I threw in some socks, undershirts and wash rags with it and OMG it really works, it came out amazingly clean!

But this wasn't my first project.  I also got inspired to get some organization going on in my kitchen pantry and spice cabinet.  Our pantry was just chaos and a bit embarrassing, it isn't tiny but it isn't huge by any means either so organization was gonna have to be the key to make the most of it.  My spice cabinet was probably like most people's-tons of canisters of spices, miscellaneous cooking items and lots of disorder.  Insert my Pinterest cleaning/organizing board I started looking for ideas & found tons of them & I was off to the Dollar Tree and Target to get bins and drawers and anything that looked like it would help me get things in order.

First I attacked the spice cabinet

It wasn't terrible but I usually pulled about 10 spices out before finding the right one

I bought 2 bins at Dollar Tree and arranged all my spices into them, I used some Rubbermaid bowls I had on hand to get rid of the many boxes of random items in there and sorted all the baking items into another tub I also already had & then I printed out some labels using my label maker.  All in all this transformation cost me $2!

Then I was onto the pantry.

The before:
I told you it was bad.
I started by pulling everything out trashing old stuff and sorting things to try to figure out a better system.  The kids are always in there wanting something to eat and they never knew where anything was.  Also Wyatt has really stepped up this year and gets himself up in the morning for school and gets his own breakfast while I am sleeping a few more minutes getting Abby up and ready, so I needed to make it easier on him to find what he wants.

Insert drawers, I went to Target and bought two of those 3 drawer bins.  I decided what would go in each drawer and labeled each.  Bars/Snacks, Crackers, Breakfast, Brownie/Cake mixes, Cookie mixes & decorating, Paper plates/napkins/plastic utensils.  Now the kids can open a drawer to grab a snack or Wyatt can grab some cereal off the bottom shelf or something out of the drawer.
I plan on making the drawers a little prettier with an idea I found of course on Pinterest :)
The I organized the bottom shelf to hold cereals, my slow cooker, my super cute new cooler and a few other misc. items.
I also plan on getting some shelf liner paper to brighten up the ugly shelves

I bought a bunch of containers at Target and Dollar Tree to organize the massive amounts of chips, crackers, pasta etc.

Here are the final results
Much better right? Now I don't feel like stabbing myself in the eyes when I open my pantry.
I have also learned tons of hair tricks for Abby, since she started school this year I have been forced to do better than just brush and pull it back every day.  Insert my hair board I have found some awesome ideas like the day I made her hair look like an "I".  Just because it happened to also be her letter of the week and be share day doesn't necessarily mean I was trying to look like "that" mom.

ok ok I totally wanted to be that mom, and I didn't mind when I went to school that day and got more than one comment about how cute her hair was ;)
Just yesterday I learned how to make her hair curly with only a headband and had to try it last night!  Click here to find out how
some of the best curls she ever had and it took me about 5min. last night

So if I have convinced you of the awesomeness of Pinterest and you don't have an account I will send you an invite just leave me your email address.
