Pumpkin Patch and Trick or Treating

Last week Abby got to go on her first ever field trip, she was so excited! For the last 4yrs she has listened to Wyatt talk about school and field trips and now that it is finally her turn to get in on all the action she is loving it.  She has really adjusted to school great and is still LOVING Kindergarten.  She was also pretty excited to get to ride the bus, it was pretty funny when she asked where the seat belts were as they were about to load up :)

We ended up have a gorgeous day & seeing how just two days later it was raining and 40degrees I say we were extremely lucky!

They got to pick out a pumpkin
This is her "corn angel"

They also had a great Halloween, we went to our friend's house again for their annual Halloween Party.
One of her favorite treats! caramel apple

I have said many times that I lost my battle with Wyatt a few years ago on costume selection.  Now he is what ever cheesy Star Wars character or Ninja that he thinks has the coolest accessories at the time of costume choosing.  This year it was a Ninja (again), but hey at least it's easy and it makes him happy and that's what counts right?  sure

But I can still decide for influence Abby's choice for Halloween attire, I feel like I have her for a couple more years at least :)  This year I "helped" her decide to be a 50's girl.  Her doll Ella also has an outfit so I thought they would be so cute together.  I am glad I was right:)

Monday is also her 50th day of school and they are doing 50's day, she is super excited she gets to wear her costume again. They are gonna have a sock hop and make coke floats! It's no wonder she loves Kindergarten they are always doing some party or super fun activity.

Tricks or Treats?

LOOK over there ----------> u see that? 3 more days!!

anyways onto my real reason for this post

Are you over the non stop asking for candy yet? If yours are like mine they got TONS of candy and it is nowhere close to being gone and I am SO over the constant asking can I have a piece of candy! I am gonna have to hide it soon and hope they forget about it for a few days.

We did have a fun Halloween weekend, Saturday was juvenile hunting season so Shane and Wyatt were up very early and headed to the woods they returned empty handed later that morning but Wyatt was determined so after a bit of a rest they were off again. This time he did not return empty handed.

It's hard to tell but he's a 4pointer he had told Shane he was gonna hold out for this big guy that had been spotted near his blind but the day was almost over and he got all excited and wanted to shoot one so Shane said go ahead if you want to. This makes #3 for my little hunter:)

While the men were off doing manly things Abby and I headed to a fall festival at a local downtown square. She wanted to wear her costume and I will admit she was looking very cute buzzing around.
there was a gigantic pumpkin, that btw I thought I was gonna see one woman punch another over her kid getting to sit with it and take a picture, really it's just a pumpkin!

We ate kettle corn, painted little pumpkins, watched the costume contest (which BTW the ones who one in the 0-5 age group were OMG too cute and if you are gonna have twins or even one little one at Halloween you should do it, little chicks! yep white onesies and white tights cover with feathers and yellow rubber dish gloves onto their legs as feet) and just had a good time together.

Sunday we went to our friends annual Halloween party. Someone brought a little trailer so I allowed my kids to be one of those kids that get driven around the neighborhood:) But truthfully it was nice since it was cold that night they were able to hit a ton of houses in little time and then back to the nice warm house with no complaints of "my feet hurt".

Wyatt was again some character from Star Wars some clone trooper guy, the little kitty (a friends little girl) had to be the cutest kitty I have ever seen but she wasn't feeling having her picture made and I snapped a ton of her and Abby and I don't think I got one of both of them looking:)

We returned home to empty bowls of candy on the front porch and I was happy cause like I said they got tons and I definitely didn't need any left over!

Boo to you! and other stuff

To get the weekend started off right

and yes it was as good as it looks*

We were so glad when the rain cleared out and Saturday turned into a pretty day which meant all the trick or treating we could handle.

We went to a friend's house for their annual Halloween party. We also trick or treated in their neighborhood and let me tell ya I have never seen like the kids! OMG it was crazy. Oh and another thing-Since when did kids stop walking around the neighborhood getting candy? Have the kids become that lazy that it requires cars, trucks, golf carts, and trailers to haul them around? The traffic was crazy.

Our kids I guess were the part of the very few that were required to actually walk. It was cold but hey it was worth it for the loot

Our friends house was decorated so good, it was complete with a graveyard out front and lots and lots of treats.

How cute are they?

Thumbalina and Boba Fett

This guy was handing out candy-she was not scared one bit she was on a mission for candy and nothing was gonna stop her!

the big boys were not as thrilled with him;)

OMG I can hardly stand the cuteness

And on a totally unrelated note. Saturday also just happened to be the opening day of juvenile hunting season. Shane and Wyatt were up before the crack of dawn and off to the woods. They had been preparing for this for a couple weeks now. We took him out the other day to shoot his gun and make sure it was on target-which it was and so he knew that there would be no blaming of the gun this year if he shoots and misses like last year:)

Anyways so they get there and sit for barely an hour when the unlucky one stumbles into Wyatt's sight's. Shane said Wyatt was pretty nervous he says he was just excited. Either way I heard that there was alot of deep breaths taken before he laid the hammer down and this guy ran a little ways and as they sat there wondering if it was a good shot Wyatt saw him fall and it was official. Wyatt is now a provider for our family and is earning his keep!

Wyatt and one very proud daddy

he was SO proud of himself and told everyone about it. It was so cute hearing him talk about it.

I see many wonderful years and many wonderful memories made while sitting in the woods together. Shane has such a love of all things hunting and outdoors and is so glad that his son is also prepared to wake at godawful hours and go sit in the cold.

*no I did not make this pizza it was provided by Papa Murphys

Wordful Wednesday-Ghosts of Halloween Past

Since Halloween is this weekend Angie has made wordful Wednesday's prompt "ghosts of Halloween past".

I LOVE going thru old pics and looking at the cute costumes of years gone by. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, I love picking out or making the cutest costume on the block. I have lost the battle with Wyatt but Abby is still mine:)

I wish I had older pics like Wyatt's first one, he was only a few months old and went as a Chili pepper! OMG he was so cute

2005: Wyatt couldn't make up his mind. At first it was a cowboy then he wanted to be a cop. So I had the PERFECT idea! Wyatt Earp!! he was both a cowboy and a sheriff. It couldn't have been better, especially since the only thing I had to buy for his costume was a sheriff badge and gun holster (which I am pretty sure I got at Publix)

2006: Abby's first one and the last time I think Wyatt let me dress him up. She had tons of hair and we always had it pulled up on the top of her head in a little Pebbles do. So of course that would be a perfect costume, I made her little outfit with some fleece I bought and her barrette was an actual dog chew bone glued onto a clip:) Wyatt who was a dinosaur (Dinno ya know the Flintstones pet) he didn't go for the Dinno thing very well but he was cool with just being a dinosaur.

2007: Yep I didn't get to pick out his costume this year! He was SO into Transformers and we were forced to let him buy one of those cheesy costumes. Abby went as a kitty

we even did a transformer pumpkin

2008: Once again no choice in the costume department for Wyatt. But Abby oh my it is SOO much fun having a little girl:)! Here are my Ninja and Princess witch

I made her tutu and then bought a great shirt and witch hat at Target, I just added a crown from the dollar bin and some more tulle.

This year Wyatt will be Boba Fett from Star Wars-yep another cheesy costume that he LOVES:) She will be Thumbelina, I can't wait!

Tricks or Treats?

We had a super fun Halloween Day. I got to go to the Pumpkin Patch with Wyatt (see below) it was a gorgeous day, that led to a nice and only slightly chilly evening of treat getting!

We got home after the field trip & I decided I could NOT let the at least one of the pumpkins go uncarved, I mean who gets three pumpkins and doesn't carve one of them? What kind of mom would I be? So I laid Abby down for what I thought would be a nice little cat nap before trick or treating but soon turned into a HUGE battle that included lots of screaming and crying oh and a little gagging, but I won and she slept for like 10 mins! anyways so I thought I would do a fun, quick pumpkin face but Wyatt had other plans and said it HAD to be scary. So he won and I did this

Do you see the spider eating the pumpkin? Oh and this picture is it on our friend's porch because that baby went with us to the party! I did NOT spend all that time on it to have it sit at home on my porch with me not there to enjoy it.

I have been planning Abby's Halloween costume since oh maybe Aug! I was SOOOO excited for her to finally get to show it off and run the streets getting candy-did I mention I made the tutu and the bow on her hat? I lost the battle last year with Wyatt and am now forced to buy the cheap off the rack from Target costumes, so not as much fun for mommy.

This year he went as a ninja, a cobra ninja if you asked him! His best friend was also a ninja but his costume was different, who knew there were so many Ninja types:)

We got an early start on the trick or treating since we had to stop at 2 neighbors then off to MIL's house and back to Wyatt's friends house where we ate chili, went trick or treating, made smores and had a great time hanging out with friends.

Wyatt had 2 friends with him trick or treating so I could barely keep up with them. Abby and I just took our time going from house to house getting candy. She LOVED it & had her "trick or treat's", "thankyou's" & "Happy Halloween's" down. I loved watching her walk up and try to "ring the bell" as she said.

I never got anymore pics of Wyatt in his costume because he was to busy playing with his friends, but here he is enjoying his smore by the fire.

I did get Abby to pose for one with mommy

And one more just cause I love it

I will have to share the video of her dance moves from the party later I am off to bed for now.
